Fünke Friday: Five Tobias Videos to Celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Arrested Development Finale

It was on this day exactly five years ago that final episode of Arrested Development aired, and every day since then fans have eagerly hoped for and awaited a return to the screen. For those that gave the show a chance, the reward was a show that was funnier and clever with every viewing. Jokes ran throughout not only an episode, but through the entire series, and to fully appreciate the comedic genius of Mitchell Hurwitz and company, the show needs to be watched from pilot to finale; and then re-watched a half dozen more times.

Arrested Development offered some infamous characters forever engrained in pop culture lore, and a myriad of awkward, witty, suggestive, and simply hysterical running gags. From an extraordinary funny core cast, and an equally hilarious group of recurring characters (Henry Winkler as Barry Zuckerkorn and Liza Minnelli as Lucille 2 come to mind), the standout through everything is none other than David Cross as the oblivious and quixotic Tobias Fünke.

With that, here are five of the many memorable moments that have enlightened our lives thanks to Tobias. They need no introduction; those that are familiar with the show should enjoy reminiscing, and those particular fanatics can carry on with the scenes. And if you haven’t seen the show…well, what are you waiting for? Here is your chance to get an insight into Tobias, and “I’m afraid that this offer comes off the table at midnight.”

What’s your favourite Tobias moment?

“Is that a woman’s wig?” “They said it was a bob.”

“Oh, Maeby, great news. I got my hands on some money. I can’t say how or when… or where my wedding ring is…”

“What did he say? Tell me the last thing he said.” “…he said some wonderful things.”

“I am surprised though that she’s going after somebody so similar to my own type. But I suppose we all do expose our inner desires, don’t we?”

“You’re the ‘Fünke” everyone’s been talking about?”
