According to The New York TimesBits blog, Koum said at the 2014 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Monday that starting sometime in the second quarter, WhatsApp users will be able to use their smartphones to make Internet calls, similar to services already offered by other messaging services, such as South Korea’s KakaoTalk and Cyprus’ Viber.
