Foursquare unrolled deeper Facebook integration today by highlighting venues users’ Facebook friends have engaged with on Foursquare.
Foursquare will use public activity, but not check-ins, from a user’s Facebook contacts, to serve relevant recommendations under the Explore tab. Check-ins will remain private unless the Facebook friends are also friends on Foursquare.
“The best recommendations often come from friends. When you’re looking for a burrito or how to spend your Saturday, Foursquare can show you the Mexican restaurants, coffee shops, and museums that your friends love,” the company said.
Only users who connect their Facebook and Foursquare accounts can take advantage of the personalized recommendations.
