Forever 21 is following in the footsteps of other big brands like Kia, Snuggie and Toyota, tapping into the YouTube audience with a new online video contest called the ‘Haul of Fame Contest.’ Promoted by YouTube beauty girls Elle and Blair Fowler, the Forever 21 contest asks girls to make their own haul videos showing off their favorite ‘Back to School’ fashions.
So how does the contest work? According to a video posted earlier this week by Elle and Blair, contestants will have one month to upload their haul videos to the Forever 21 website. Contestants, who must be at least 13 years of age and have parental permission if they are under 18, can make their haul video after a shopping trip, or shop their own closets to share their favorite back to school fashions. Ten finalists will be chosen and then a big vote will take place from September 20-26 to determine the big winners.
Four winners will be determined. The grand prize is a hot back to school outfit selected by fashionistas Elle and Blair and a $500 Forever 21 gift card. Two runner-ups will receive a cosmetic and accessory grab bag worth $300 each. For girls that want to enter but don’t have a video camera, a comment winner will be awarded with a cosmetic and accessory grab bag valued at $150. To qualify for the comment prize, YouTubers can write about their favorite back to school fashions on the video in which Elle and Blair explain how the contest works.
Contests like this are great publicity for brands. Not only are YouTube fashion extraordinaires like Elle and Blaire getting the Forever 21 name out there, but each and every contestant that uploads a haul video to enter the contest is spreading the world about the brand and this fun opportunity to win cool Forever 21 prizes.
Do you know any teenage girls who would give their left legs to win $500 in Forever 21 goods? What do you think about brands promoting themselves with contests like this?
