First Images From Memoto's Hot New Mini-Cam

We reported that Memoto, a camera that attaches to the user's clothing and automatically takes two pictures a minute, was one of the hottest products at SxSW. The company released today photos taken with a prototype camera.

We reported that Memoto, a camera that attaches to the user’s clothing and automatically takes two pictures a minute, was one of the hottest products at SxSW. But the obvious question is, how good could pictures taken this way be? There are a lot of difficult lighting situations out in the world, and precious few perfect framing opportunities.

Memoto released today photos taken with a prototype camera.

With so many images, the camera produced some beautiful snapshots, like these:

 

It also struggled in some situations:

 

But it handled other close-up actions pretty well:

The images also suggest that talking to people produces passable framing for a photograph — but watch those action faces!
