While Facebook will report its official numbers later today, a story in The Wall Street Journal indicates that Facebook was wildly successful in the U.S. on mobile.

According to data comScore provided to The Journal, the number of minutes U.S. smartphone users spent on Facebook in this past quarter rose from 111.4 billion to 225.4 billion. In May, minutes rose by 9.3 percent. The next month, mobile minutes went up by 5.8 percent.

However, The Journal noted that Facebook Home did not really move the needly on mobile engagement, as Facebook saw basically no growth in March, when Facebook’s mobile platform for Android was launched.

It’ll be interesting to see Facebook’s numbers in advance of the second quarter earnings call at 2 p.m. PST.
