Facebook's Oregon Data Center Holds Grand Opening
Facebook held a grand opening for its first wholly-owned data center Prinville, Oregon on Friday.
Facebook held a grand opening for the Prinville, Oregon data center on Friday, and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg made an appearance at the Friday evening event with his puppy, Beast.
Beast’s page on Facebook includes a photo of the pooch and Zuckerberg with the tongue-in-cheek comment, “Mark took me to see Facebook’s new data center, and I christened it by peeing on the floor. That puddle at the bottom left is all me.”
Associated Press quoted Zuckerberg telling the crowd of about 300 on Friday that the company’s first wholly-owned data center “is a massive step up for us from the leased space that we’ve been operating out of before.”
