CONFIRMED: Facebook Developer Zynga Acquires Omgpop, Maker Of Draw Something

Zynga confirmed in a press release today that it has acquired Omgpop, maker of Draw Something.

Zynga confirmed today that it has acquired Omgpop, maker of Draw Something.

The companies wouldn’t disclose the terms of the deal, although Bloomberg cited an anonymous source as saying Zynga paid $200 million.

That would amount to Zynga’s largest acquisition ever, by at least fourfold.

New York-based Omgpop also makes 35 other social games, but Draw Something is the vendor’s first real hit and one of the fastest growing games of all time.

In the six weeks since Draw Something launched, it has been downloaded over 35 million times and:

  • In the last week, more than one billion drawings have been created;
  • Draw Something had three drawings per second the day the game launched;
  • Yesterday, Draw Something has over 3,000 drawings per second at its peak;
  • Draw Something is the number one word game in 84 countries according to the Apple app store;

Draw Something is currently available on Apple and Android handhelds.
