Facebook Smacks Back at Yahoo With Patent Claims in Counter-Lawsuit (AllThingsD) In its counter-claim filing, involving 10 patents held by Facebook, the social networking giant said that Yahoo is infringing via a wide range of its offerings, including its homepage, content optimization, relevance engine, Flickr photo-sharing service and advertising throughout its huge site. At $199, the Kindle Fire is a loss-leader and relies on purchases being made via the tablet to generate a profit. The titles will only be available on Android-powered tablets, not on the iPad, although Next Issue is applying to Apple to get the newsstand on the dominant device. They’re specifically looking for account executives able to break into the Netherlands, Spain and UK/Ireland markets. And, of course, to let interested sales folk know about these new positions, the company sent out a tweet from its UK Twitter account. On Facebook, Some Friendly Energy Rivalry (The New York Times / Green) Teaming with Facebook, energy conservation advocates and the Natural Resources Defense Council, an environmental group, Opower released a new app on Tuesday that will allow interested parties in 20 million households served by 16 utilities to post their energy use on their Facebook pages and invite friends to do so as well.
