The social network pulled the plug on Facebook Markup Language earlier this year, so why release a page development tool called Advanced FBML?

Yet that’s exactly what WeBuzz did.

In fairness to the developer, however, while it may not have chosen the best name for the application, Advanced FBML is actually a way to avoid coding, and not a rebirth of the now-obsolete language.

So, what does Advanced FBML bring to the Facebook page-creation party?

  • The ability to create Facebook fan pages with pictures, text, and hyperlinks, and no need to learn coding of any kind, although HTML-fluent users can import coding if they so desire;
  • A what-you-see-is-what-you-get interface;
  • Integration with comment boxes, text descriptions, and share buttons; and
  • The option of creating a landing image, which is what Facebook users who are not yet fans of the page see.
