Facebook wants to triple its staffing in six years, based on information included in the company’s paperwork filed with Menlo Park City Council.
On May 16, the city’s planning commission will give feedback on Facebook’s environmental impact report for the proposed architectural changes to the company’s future headquarters in Menlo Park.
The San Jose Mercury News reports that Facebook’s plans call for the ability to put up to 9,400 employees in 79 acres that Menlo Park had limited to 3,600 workers when Sun Microsystems bought the land and sought permission for renovations.
The staffing limit has to do with traffic concerns, but Facebook’s environmental impact report include a proposal to limit the number of vehicle trips to and from the area to 15,000 per day.
