Facebook Users Poke Fun At Weinergate

Facebook posts mentioning Representative Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) are still going up at the rate of several per minute as of this writing. Yesterday afternoon, the Congressman confessed to sending pictures of a sexual nature via online outlets including Twitter, and then lying about doing so.

Congratulations, President Barack Hussein Obama: Your middle name is no longer the most controversial name in politics, and you can thank Weinergate for that.

Facebook posts mentioning Representative Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) are still going up at the rate of several per minute as of this writing.

Yesterday afternoon, the Congressman confessed to sending pictures of a sexual nature via online outlets including Twitter, and then lying about doing so.

And while the story would have created a sensation no matter which member of Congress was involved, the name Weiner is far more joke-friendly than, say, Ackerman, as in Weiner’s New York Democrat counterpart, Rep resentative Gary Ackerman.

The majority of Weiner-related posts on Facebook contained jokes or plays on words related to his last name, and those that actually discussed the scandal itself were critical of the congressman’s actions.
