We’re seeing posts about doughnuts go up at a rate of one every few seconds as of this writing — try doing keyword searches on various spellings of the word doughnut, and you’ll see what we mean.

We attribute a fair amount of the inspiration for these posts to Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts, which are both promoting the day with giveaways described on their respective pages.

Dunkin Donuts created an event page, inviting people to celebrate the day by coming to a participating shop to receive a free doughnut with the purchase of any beverage; RSVPs included 7,208 attending and 894 maybes as of this writing.
