Facebook tests omnipresent 'compose' button to let users make posts from any page of the site

Some users are seeing a new icon in the header of Facebook.com, which allows them to quickly compose a post or share a photo from any page they’re on.

If this feature rolls out more widely it could encourage users to post more frequently, or at least improve the experience when people do decide to share. Typically users have to visit News Feed or Timeline in order to start a new post.

When users click the compose button, a pop-up window appears with the familiar options to create a status update or upload photos or video.
