Kill SOPA Facebook App: Too Little, Too Late

By David Cohen Comment

Can you kill something if it’s already dead? We got an email yesterday afternoon about a Facebook application called Kill SOPA when it was already moot.

Key backers of the Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect Intellectual Property Act, and several other lawmakers, had already announced that they were dropping their support of the bills.

Likely due to the fact that it completely missed its window of opportunity, Kill SOPA had only 32 likes at the time of this post. And frankly, the app doesn’t really do much.

There are buttons that allow users to invite friends, post about Kill SOPA on their walls, and send messages to friends, as well as a link to tell friends in your state about the app.

Kill SOPA also features a tally of Senate and House of Representatives votes on the bills.

The bottom of the app’s welcome screen features a list of senators and representatives in your state, but if Kill SOPA is accurate, New Jersey is not represented in Congress. Or there’s a bug in the app — take your pick.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re going back to work on our Impeach Nixon Facebook app.
