“Facebook doesn’t comment on rumors or speculation,” a company spokesperson said via email, in response to our question about whether it’s true that the leading social network is about to release its own photo-sharing application for the iPhone, instead of letting a third-party developer do all the work.

How such an application might work also remains a mystery, along with a possible date for a launch or beta test.
