Product marketing manager George Xian Zeng said in a developer blog post that the reference app is aimed at helping developers to deal with the various challenges of getting established with the social network’s marketing API, adding:

It can be difficult to envision a final product when only looking at reference docs, authentication can be confusing and too much time and energy is spent on building foundational technology rather than product innovation.
