The dictators of the former Soviet Union may have left this world long ago, but they are alive and well on Facebook.

Latvians Online pointed out that Facebook community pages exist for several of them, with most of these pages containing information lifted from Wikipedia, along with comments from Facebook users.

Here are the standings (with a philosopher and a couple of Germans mixed in), along with descriptions from Latvians Online:

  • Karl Marx (Socialist philosopher whose ideas helped inspire the Russian Revolution): 84,225 likes
  • Russian revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin (pictured): 24,260
  • Joseph Stalin (premier of the Soviet Union from 1941-53): 16,753
  • Mikhail Gorbachev (in power from 1988 until the breakup of the U.S.S.R.
