Facebook Overtook Google Maps to Become Most-Downloaded App of 2012

Facebook overtook Google Maps in the final months of 2012 to become the most downloaded app of the year among U.S. users on iOS and Android platforms, according to comScore data released today.

Facebook also dominated in terms of the time users spent using its mobile apps, with Facebook getting the most time by far with 23 percent. It has long dominated when judged by user engagement.

But Google was behind five out of six of the most downloaded apps.
