Facebook has launched its Paper app on iOS, aimed at helping users explore, find and share stories from friends around the world. The app gives each user their own “Paper” to cultivate and customize, following specific themes and sections, from photography and science to sports or food. In addition to content discovery, users can also follow their Facebook News Feed to keep up with friends and family.
The app allows users to follow topics that matter to them, with a mix of content from well-known publications as well as their friends. By swiping away from the Facebook News Feed section, users can browse articles from other websites, “Like” them, read comments from other Facebook users, or share the articles as News Posts back on their Facebook News Feed.
Tilt controls allow users to view larger images without zooming in or out, while swipes will unfold or fold virtual pieces of paper containing links, stories and other content.
The Paper app is the first release from Facebook Creative Labs, which aims to “support the diverse ways people want to connect and share.” Paper is now available to download for free on iOS in the US. Check back soon to follow the app on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
