Facebook Helps Rescue Missing Boys

Two Mohave Valley, Arizona young boys who had gone missing were found thanks to a posting that was seen on Facebook. The boys' mother, Maria Rue, work up Thursday in the wee hours of the morning at around 2 a.m. A noise caused her to wake up and check on her boys Taren Jay, 11 and Tevin Howard, 7, whom she had last seen when they went to bed at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night. When Maria noticed that the boys were not in bed, she awakened her husband, who then immediately searched the house and yard but did not find the boys. The couple then went to check on their 9-year-old son. Then the distraught parents awakened the boy's sibling, he informed them, that his brothers had told him earlier they were going to Walmart to buy a BB gun and then run away. Police were called and Maria told the authorities that her boys had never left home before and that she believe they were upset due to an earlier incident. The mischevious duo got busted throwing rocks at a neighbor's garage and had broken a window. Maria and her husband grounded the pair and the punishment did not sit well with either one. After scouring the neightborhood for the children and familiar places like the homes of friends, police turned up empty-handed. Authorities then organized A Search and Rescue unit and a volunteer posse assisted in the search for the boys. Meanwhile nearby neighbor Krissy Schlau, who is an avid Facebooker, went online and saw that the advisory about the two boys who had gone missing from the neighborhood. Schlau, who did not know the family personally, says that her husband is always poking fun at her for constantly keeping tabs on her Facebook page. It was about 3:45 p.m., Thursday afternoon, Schlau was on her way to take her daughter to dance class when she spotted the two young boys walking along a highway. She told the Mojave News, "My heart told me to stop." The boys had actually walked eight miles and were about half a mile from Walmart when she stopped them. Schlau asked the children a series of questions, and took them to get food, drink while she called the Sheriff's office. The boys were checked out by paramedics who gave them a clean bill of health.
