The More Friends You Have, The More You Facebook

By Jackie Cohen

It’s true: the larger your friend list on Facebook, the more time you spend there.

You might have figured that one out or heard it before, but it’s actually a statistical finding by Netpop Research, which is putting out a report tomorrow.

However, Netpop qualified that people with large numbers of contacts also spend more time using email and other forms of communications. But, people seem to go to Facebook more frequently. Three out of every four people with more than 100 contacts on the social network check the site daily.

Over the past six years, social media has increased three-and-a-half-fold, and now accounts for 18 percent of time spent online. Additional findings appear in a video preview of Netpop’s report that we’ve embedded below. Let us know what you think of it by posting in the comments section at the bottom of the post.
