If Slingshot is eventually released users will be able to send short video messages by tapping their screen.

Facebook is working on a disappearing-message app called Slingshot to compete with Snapchat, according to a report in The Financial Times.

The app would succeed Poke, a Snapchat clone that quickly lost traction after it was launched in 2012. The following year Facebook tried, and failed, to acquire Snapchat for $3 billion.

While they still remain available in the App Store, it appears Facebook has given up on Poke as well as Camera. If Slingshot is eventually released users will be able to send short video messages by tapping their screen.
