Even though the results of the Iowa caucus are known, social media firms continue to rehash the votes in an attempt to answer the simple question: Did Facebook and other social media platforms predict the outcome in Tuesday’s election?
Two infographics that came out today offer answers. The first, from Sociagility, says that out of Twitter, YouTube and Facebook, only Facebook metrics — talking about this and likes, to be specific — hinted at the correct outcome in the Hawkeye state. Our analysis of Facebook showed a similar result.
Offering an alternate view is Trilogy Interactive. Their position is that Facebook and Twitter metrics are not an accurate predictor of election results–a similar point the firm made after the 2010 elections.
