Facebook Application Uses Humor To Push Birth Control

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and the Ad Council addressed the serious side of Valentine's Day with the new Confessions Facebook application from the Bedsider campaign.

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and the Ad Council addressed the serious side of Valentine’s Day with the new Confessions Facebook application from the Bedsider campaign.

The two organizations described Bedsider as “a program to help women aged 18 to 29 better understand the different forms of birth control, use their chosen method more carefully and consistently, and live a healthy, happy sex life without having to worry about unplanned pregnancy.”

Confessions, which was developed by Social Cubix, allows users to submit “their most funny, embarrassing, and relatable romantic flops and review other submissions from their peers” — anonymously, if they so choose — with the goal of reminding women that they would never give up on sex despite these awkward moments, and they shouldn’t give up on contraception, either.
