Facebook Adds 360-Degree Videos to iOS; Testing With Advertisers

Facebook announced Thursday that the 360-degree videos it debuted for Android devices in September can now be viewed on iOS devices, as well.

In addition, testing has begun on 360-degree videos as an advertising format, and brands participating in this test are AT&T, Corona, Nescafé, Ritz, Samsung and Walt Disney World.

The social network also announced several other updates related to 360-degree videos in a Facebook Media blog post:

  • 360-degree videos can now be viewed on Samsung Gear VR virtual-reality headsets and supported Samsung smartphone.



  • The social network is working with camera manufactures including Theta, Giroptic, IC Real Tech and 360 Fly on in-application “publish to Facebook” options for their devices, allowing users to instantly share their 360-degree videos via the social network.
