New From Twitter (And For Select Partners Only): Bigger Tweets

Over on the official blog, Twitter has announced some changes to the way that content will be displayed within certain tweets when they are expanded.

These larger tweets are rolling out as we speak, but, once implemented, submissions from a “diverse and growing group” of media partners” will be larger and display richer content, including snippets from articles, publisher information and more.

While it’s true that we’ve been able to expand tweets on Twitter.com to view photos and play videos for some time, this new partner content will be media rich, allowing more information to be displayed.

“When you expand a Tweet linking to a news article by The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle or Der Spiegel Online, you can see a preview with the headline, the introduction and sometimes the Twitter accounts of the publisher and writer,” wrote Michael Sippey, director of Twitter’s product team, in the blog post.
