My.com has announced the worldwide launch of its sci-fi action RPG Evolution on iOS devices. The game is described as one of the “most expansive and action-packed worlds” available on mobile devices, as players arrive on the planet Utopia and are challenged with uncovering its secrets. The game soft-launched in Russia two months ago, and found fast success in the region.
Evolution follows a research team, sent to Utopia to discover why a previous expedition team went silent. Things go from bad to worse, as players are stranded on the planet, and must survive against its unwelcoming inhabitants. This involves building a base and completing quests to advance the overall story.
Players can manually trigger battles, during which combat is handled automatically by the game. Players have some impact, in terms of reloading weapons and tossing grenades or using health items, as examples. At the end of each battle, players are rewarded with experience points, energy capsules and more.
This energy can be combined with other collected resources, including steel and magmatite, to build research centers, investigate new technologies, upgrade the base’s defenses and more. There are level and time requirements for many of the game’s actions, but players can speed up their completion time with premium currency.
“When we set out to make this game, we wanted to deliver a core RPG, but one built from the ground up for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch,” said My.com’s Publishing Director, Yuriy Maslikov. “That means players will find the same depth that RPGs are known for, but will also be drawn into the intriguing storyline and surprised by the other gameplay elements woven into the game.”
