Facebook is testing another redesign of its events page, and the most prominent new feature is an “Events for You” section, which includes public events on Facebook that users or their friends were not invited to, in places users have not checked into.
Josh Constine of TechCrunch was one of the users in the social network’s test sample, and Facebook confirmed to Constine that it is testing the new layout for the events page with some users worldwide before a “mid-paced” rollout “in the coming weeks.
Facebook also told Constine similar redesigns are forthcoming for the social network’s iOS and Android applications.
A spokesperson for the social network described how the Events for You section is populated to Constine:
The recommendations you see are based on the information you have shared with Facebook (i.e., pages you like, groups and communities you’re a part of, events that friends are attending), and other relevant contextual information, such as day of the week and location.
