Emmy Awards to Host a Live Chat As They Reveal the Nominees

For anyone who has ever loved a TV show so much they could hug it, watching the creators win an Emmy is the next best thing.

To give fans a voice, The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has partnered with social TV network ConnecTV on a live chat to complement the 65th annual Emmy Awards nominations broadcast on Thursday morning, July 18.

When the nominees are announced, the critics at home can weigh in on Twitter from 5:15 to 6:00 a.m. PST using the hashtag #emmyschat. ConnecTV entertainment producer-moderator Kirstin Benson will co-host the chat with ConnecTV host and internet personality Michael Buckley.

“ConnecTV is thrilled to partner with the Television Academy to help light up the Emmy nominations conversation in the social sphere, where TV fans are chiming in to live chat on the second screen as they watch on TV,” said Stacy Jolna, ConnecTV’s chief marketing officer and co-founder.

All of the conversations will take place online, and won’t spill into the official broadcast, which viewers can watch on most television networks, as well as online at CBS.com. There will also be a pre and post-nomination show taking place online at emmys.com and yahoo.com between 5:15 and 6:00 a.m. PT.
