Emerging popular Android apps: Blood Brothers, Pinterest and more

Rage of Bahamut once again dominated the Android charts, taking the No. 1 spot on the list of top grossing apps. DeNA is doing extremely well this week, with its new vampire themed role-playing game Blood Brothers and Fantasica also ranking fairly high on top grossing chart. On the paid Android apps chart modification and customization tools continue to perform very well, with Titanium Backup Pro Key taking the No. 1 spot, Beautiful Widgets taking the No. 3 spot and ROM ToolBox Pro taking the No. 11 spot. This Week’s top grossing Android apps Blood Brothers – We kick of this week’s roundup of top grossing Android apps with DeNA's Blood Brothers, a vampire themed role-playing game with PvP battles and time limited special events. The game was last updated on August 13 to improve performance. The game is off to a promising start, racking up at least 500,000 downloads since its release earlier this month, but it still remains to be seen whether it will ever reach the popularity level of Mobage’s Rage of Bahamut. SwiftKey 3 Keyboard – SwiftKey 3 keyboard comes in at the No. 23 spot. The app is currently priced at $3.99. Fantasica -- Fantasica, another card battle game from Mobage takes the No. 25 spot. The game is free to play with in app purchases and has been installed more than 100,000 times since it was first released. The vast majority of user reviews are positive, with an average of 4.1 out of 5. Users should make sure they have access to a wifi connection and SD card with at least 200 MB of free space before they try installing Fantasica. Final Fantasy III -- At the No. 35 spot is Square Enix’s mobile version of the classic role-playing game Final Fantasy III. Tiny Monsters -- Finally, at the No. 38 spot is TinyCo’s Tiny Monsters, a building sim and monster collecting game. The game is free to play with in-app purchases and it has been installed more than 500,000 times since it was released on August 23. Since then the game has also been reviewed an impressive 12,877 times, resulting in a an average of 4.1 out of 5. This week’s top free Android apps YouTube -- Coming in at the No. 5 spot is is Google’s YouTube app which has been installed at least 100 million times. Pandora— Taking the No. 8 spot this week is Pandora’s commercial supported music streaming app. The app was last updated on August 23 with a new design, improved navigation, more information on the current song (lyrics, artist bios) and additional bug fixes. Pandora is free to download and so far has been downloaded at least 50 million times. Google Play Music – Google’s official cloud storage music app hits No. 11 on the free app charts this week. The app was last updated on August 22. Pinterest -- Coming in at the No. 18 spot is Pinterest, the official app of the pinboard-style photo sharing social network. The app was last updated on August 27 with various bug fixes. It is free to download, and has been installed more than a million times since it was first released. Currently the app has over 40,000 user reviews, the majority of which are positive, resulting in an average of 4.7 out of five. Slacker Radio – Our last pick for top free Android apps of the week is Slacker Radio which comes in at the No. 21 spot. Slacker Radio is a free customizable radio app with over 100 genre stations. This Week’s top paid Android apps Titanium Backup Pro Key — The “Pro” upgrade for Titanium Track’s backup application takes the No. 1 spot on the paid apps chart this week. The app allows Android users to manage multiple backups, migrate system data across different ROMs and manage multiple users for other apps and games. The app is currently priced at $6.58. Beautiful Widgets – The $2.89 app which comes in at the No. 3 allows users to incorporate a myriad of skins and themes on their Android device to display a variety of clocks and weather reports. ROM ToolBox Pro -- A sale on Jrummy Apps’ ROM ToolBox Pro helped it take the No. 11 spot. The 20 percent discount puts the current price at $3.99. The app combines several tools to help users manage Roms, apps, browse root files, modify CPU performance and more. The app was last updated on August 22 with a new Terminal Emulator and Rebooter. SoundHound – Coming in at the No. 14 spot is SoundHound, an app similar to Shazam that helps users identify songs. The app is an Editor’s Choice and is currently priced at $5.99. Asphalt 7: Heat -- Finally, coming in at the No. 26 spot is Gameloft’s Asphalt 7: Heat, the latest entry in its mobile racing series. The game is currently priced at $0.99 and it has been installed more than 100,000 times since it was first released. The game has been reviewed more that 40,000 times with the majority of users giving it the highest possible score of five stars.
