eBookNewser Readers Respond To Selling Used Digital Books

Yesterday we reported that software company Lexink, is entering the eBook business and selling used eBooks through their service called “Unloder”. Through the service, users can buy and sell their old MP3s, digital videos or eBooks in exchange for a credit. The post got readers talking.

Bear Mountain Books wrote, “It’s creative, but most licenses specifically state that ‘resale’ is illegal. The license is to use and read the book. So…while it sounds nice, it also sounds like it’s outside the licensing agreement and still breaks copyright…I’m not a legal expert by any means, but it seems to me that the authors/publishers would have to change their licensing statements and allow this before it isn’t anything but piracy?”
