Kobo worked with Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA), a community of more than 60,000 parents, to learn about the digital reading habits of kids and found that in Canada and the U.S., eBook sales among kids has increased 10 times since 2010.

The Hunger Games was a phenomenon that proved readers would read even their most sacred YA novels in digital format. Now we have earned an opportunity to continue serving these readers with more great content to be read digitally. This represents an opportunity – a void to be filled.
The study also revealed that authors with more than one book available makes up almost 60 percent of Kobo’s unit sales volume in Kids. Backlist titles also do well among kids, making up 81 percent of total sales in the Children’s category. To tap into growing eBook interest among kids, Kobo has put its Kobo Mini on sale for $39.99 until July 18th.
