24% Have Been Distracted by Social Media Whilst Driving

Have you ever used your cell phone whilst driving?

You’re not alone; most people have. Indeed, a recent poll revealed that 74 percent admitted to having spoken on their phone whilst behind the wheel of a car, despite it being prohibited in many states.

But what about using social media whilst driving – have you ever done that?

Amazingly, close to one in four (24 percent) of respondents to the same survey admitted that they had checked or posted to social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook on a smartphone or tablet whilst driving a vehicle.

About one in ten (11 percent) stated that they do so frequently.

Social finished well down the list of driving distractions, behind talking on a cell phone, reading/sending text messages and looking something up on a smartphone or tablet. But still: that’s a pretty worrying trend.
