Digg will release a beta version of its promised Google Reader replacement in June and will ask users to pay a fee for the product, the company said today.

Google has said it will stop offering its Reader in July.
“Free products on the Internet don’t have a great track record. They tend to disappear, leaving users in a lurch. We need to build a product that people can rely on and trust will always be there for them,” the company said in a blog post.
In a recent survey addressing what users want from a next generation Google Reader, 40 percent of respondents said they would be willing to pay for the product.
