Facebook issued a stern reminder to developers that its platform cannot be used to export user data to other social networks without permission.

The social network ensured that it cannot be accused of withholding user data with its release of the Download Your Information tool, but that doesn’t mean it wants to make it easy for developers or users to import data to, say, Google Plus.

The reminder was part of a post on its developer blog, and it read:

We’ve updated our policies to further clarify that Facebook platform cannot be used to export user data into a competitive social network without our permission.
