Facebook is looking to expand the success of its mobile application install ads to desktop apps, announcing the launch of desktop app ads in a post on its developer blog.

Facebook is looking to expand the success of its mobile application install ads to desktop apps, announcing the launch of desktop app ads in a post on its developer blog.

According to the social network, the new desktop app ads will appear both as right-hand-side ads and in the News Feed, and they can be accessed via its Ads Create Tool, Power Editor, or by working with a Preferred Marketing Developer.

Facebook described the new ads further in the blog post:

The ads will have a strong call to action, such as “play now” or “use now,” and a large, engaging image to show off your app to people.
