How To Set Default Upload Settings In YouTube

By Megan O'Neill

When you upload videos to YouTube, inputting the same upload settings again and again can be annoying.  If you always make your videos private, choose a specific ‘Creative Commons Attribution’, include similar tags, or categories you can save yourself time by setting up default settings so you don’t have to feel like a broken record.

The Google Operating System blog reported over the weekend that YouTube has launched a new feature that lets users adjust the default upload settings.  Just head over to the ‘Settings’ page (click ‘Settings’ from the dropdown menu in the top right corner) and then click on ‘Defaults’ under ‘Channel Settings.’

From the Upload Defaults page you can set defaults for Privacy, Category, and License, and save parts of the Title, Description or Tags that may always remain consistent from video to video.  You can also enable monetization, and set up which types of ad formats you’d like to display.  Note that, as YouTube explains, “These settings can be overridden on individual videos.”

Have you played around with the Upload Defaults yet?  How do you like them?
