Craigslist and eBay have agreed to stop selling scalped tickets to the presidential inauguration, Chuck Schumer, the chair of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, announced today.

Craigslist and eBay have agreed to stop selling scalped tickets to the presidential inauguration, Chuck Schumer, the chair of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, announced today.

Soon after the tickets began being distributed, Schumer’s committee became aware that the tickets were being sold on eBay and Craigslist and began lobbying the websites to block the sales.

The tickets, many of which are marked “not for sale,” are distributed through government officials. They are not sold.
