comScore, an Internet market research firm, released information from data about mobile social media usage changes during the period of August 2010 to August 2011. comScore’s data, if accurate provides interesting insights into our mobile social activities. Note that comScore does not differentiate between social network sites like Facebook and conventional blog sites for some of their reported results.
Social Networking On-The-Go: U.S. Mobile Social Media Audience Grows 37 Percent in the Past Year
While mobile browser use to access social networks or blogs increased by 24% in a year, social networks access using apps increased by 126%.
comScore also looked at mobile access of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter in their 12 month measurement period. While Facebook mobile access dwarfs LinkedIn and Twitter combined, both LinkedIn and Twitter showed greater percentage increase.
