Social gifting company Cleverbug, creators of the popular CleverCards app (downloaded in over 150 countries), announced today that it has received $6M in financing led by Delta Partners.

The news follows Cleverbug’s announcement that it has partnered with the American Kennel Club, offering users of WOOFipedia the ability to create and send high-quality greeting cards featuring their favorite pets.

“This time last year, Cleverbug was a simple birthday card iPhone app with elegant social graph technology. We never would have guessed that in a year we’d scale the product to such a degree that our users can now meaningfully celebrate almost every major holiday and every milestone with friends and family in minutes,” said Kealan Lennon, Cleverbug’s CEO and founder in a statement. “Our users love CleverCards, and in 2014, we’re going to give them more of what they love, by continuing to improve the service and introduce new products.”

Added Maurice Roche of Delta Partners: “We are very impressed with the outstanding work by the Cleverbug team in bringing a much-loved product to the market, and the red-hot social gifting category.

“We’re proud to be part of the company’s next phase of product and business development, as it moves toward its audacious vision to be the largest social gifting company in the world.”
