Take Two Interactive Software, the owner of Civilization Network – one of the most popular strategy games of all time, has announced that Civilization will be available on Facebook sometime around June.
Sid Meier’s Civilization is a strategy game, that was initially developed in 1991 for MicroProse. The Game begins in 4000 BC, and its theme is to build an empire that could stand the test of time. Users are tasked to expand and develop their empires through ages until the modern times.
Similar to the Civilization, that the game wants its users to create, the game itself has stood the test of time. The game has been one of the most popular strategy games of all times and continues to garner a huge and loyal following even after two decades since it was first launched.
Sid Meier, the games developer has announced that Civilization would use Facebook’s social qualities and would allow fans to play competitive and cooperative games. Similar to other popular Facebook games, Civilization would be free to play.
During his initial announcement regarding the release of Civilization on Facebook, Meier commented:
Civilization Network will allow you to join together with your friends to create the world’s most powerful, richest, smartest, or just plain coolest civilization. You can coordinate your strategy to win great battles, share your technology to jump ahead of your rivals, lobby your family and friends to form your own government and win vital elections, manage and grow your cities to maximize production and happiness, spy on your enemies, and work with your friends to create the great Wonders of the World.
Civilization is already available on gaming consoles like, PlayStation, XBox 360 and Nintendo DS.
