Among the many shopping and deals apps available on iOS and Android, Checkout 51 looks to stand out from the crowd by offering a weekly list of offers and the ability to receive checks related to the money users have saved. The app moves away from traditional paper coupons, and instead lists virtual deals which can be claimed in any store across the country, or even online.

New users set their location within the app to receive offers closest to them. Every Thursday, the app updates with 15-20 new offers on popular products, including food items like cereal and yogurt, or household items like air fresheners and cleansers.

When users buy one of those matching items, they are asked to take a picture of their receipt and upload it to the app. The system then confirms the purchase and credits the user’s account with their savings. For signing up and sharing their first receipt, users are rewarded a bonus $2 to get them started. The system aims to process rewards and receipts within 48 hours of uploading to the system.

When users reach $20, they can receive a check in the mail, or choose to continue saving up credit. Since launching earlier this year, Checkout 51 has paid back more than $2 million to members. The app itself was downloaded by over 500,000 users in the first month after launch.

Checkout 51 is available to download for free on iOS and Google Play. Check back soon to follow the app on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
