Chartboost today announced the first batch of participants selected for the company’s University: Boot Camp. The mobile cross-promotion service provider received more than 200 applications from independent mobile game developers around the world. The seven indie developers selected were Coconut Island, Dobsoft Studios, Esquilax Games, Immersive Interactive, Last Pick Productions, OniMobi and Wolfmans.
University: Boot Camp is a program created by Chartboost for seven international developers, consisting of two to four people, to have the opportunity to learn from industry veterans, visit prominent Bay Area tech companies and work on their games from Chartboost’s San Francisco office for 10 days before the Game Developers Conference. Some of the companies the winning participants get to learn from include Get Set Games, Kabam, Kerosene Games, Pocket Gems, Sequoia Capital and more.
The San Francisco-based company’s process to select its participants included downloading and playing games, watching gameplay videos as well as researching indie developers through LinkedIn, GitHub and Google Search. This won’t be the only batch of participants, Chartboost plans to keep this program permanently. Also, Chartboost doesn’t take any equity from the developers who participate in this program.
Charboost recently landed $19 million in another round of funding back in January. The company, which was founded in 2011, has received $21 million in total funding to date.
