CBSSports.com has added NBA superstar Steve Nash to its roster.
Nash will be traveling to South Africa to cover the 2010 FIFA World Cup for the sports site. The basketball player will file eight video reports for CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports YouTube page, and will also upload photos, iPhone vignettes and status updates to the official CBS Sports Twitter feed and Facebook page.
Nash, who was born in South Africa, is a self described “football freak.” His video production company, Meathawk, will be producing the reports.
“This project with CBSSports.com combines two of my passions off the basketball court, the beautiful game known internationally as “football” and video production,” said Nash in a statement. “I look forward to shooting some memorable pieces from South Africa and giving fans a unique and sometimes humorous look at the World Cup.”
“Having a talent such as Steve Nash represent CBSSports.com is an incredible opportunity and we’re all looking forward to seeing the work he produces from South Africa,” said Jason Kint, Senior Vice President & General Manager, CBSSports.com in a statement. “Steve’s sense of humor, unique perspective and access to some of the greatest soccer players in the world should make for fun and entertaining programming.”
