Atari has officially launched RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile on iOS devices, bringing the classic theme park simulation franchise to a new generation of gamers. The game puts players in charge of their own theme park, and offers a variety of attractions, including shops and rides, as well as 20 pre-designed roller coasters.
Players begin the game with basic rides, like a ferris wheel and merry-go-round, but can expand their park with more thrilling offerings over time. Shops are equally important, as park guests will require drink and food stalls, souvenir stands, photo booths and more to keep them happy.
In addition to pre-built coasters (some of which are free), players can also design their own. In classic franchise fashion, this involves building every individual piece of track, from lift hills to curves. Once a large portion of track has been completed, however, players have the option of letting the game complete the rest to save time. These custom coasters cost premium currency, but players are given their first during the game’s tutorial.
Every ride or shop raises a park’s rating, making guests happier and fueling the production of more money over time. While rides take time to construct, tickets can be used to speed up the process. The game locks many items to higher levels, including hotels, maintenance structures and more.
RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is now available to download for $2.99. In addition to this iOS release, a multiplayer PC version is in the works, which will offer more social features and cooperative gameplay. The PC game is scheduled for release this holiday season.
