Facebook Head Of Product For Android Bubba Murarka Joins Draper Fisher Jurvetson

The revolving door of engineers leaving Facebook continues to spin, as Silicon Valley venture-capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson announced that the social network’s head of product for Android, Bubba Murarka, was named a general partner and managing director.

Murarka started the Facebook Home project, which lead to the creation of the recently launched overlay for select Android devices, and he also served as business development lead at the social network, negotiating deals with key partners including Microsoft, Netflix, and Yahoo.

Prior to Facebook, Murarka spent seven years in technical and product roles at Microsoft, including group program manager for Bing‘s Bay-area development team.

DFJ said Murarka will focus primarily on early-stage consumer Internet and mobile companies in his new role, as well as assisting companies across the company’s portfolio with growth and product strategies.

DFJ Managing Director Andreas Stavropoulos said:

Bubba has deep experience with building teams and delivering a product vision, which is important perspective for emerging tech companies. He has expertise in scaling teams, working through complex partnership negotiations, and designing creative experiences. Bubba’s ability to forge relationships with founders makes him a great asset for DFJ and our portfolio companies.

Murarka added:

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join a storied partnership that takes big risks by backing disruptive companies. I’m excited to support the fearless entrepreneurs who think big and want to change the world.

The announcement of Murarka’s departure from Facebook comes one day after AllThingsD reported that Software Engineer Josh Wiseman bolted the social network for an engineer-in-residence position with The Social + Capital Partnership.
