News Of Boston Marathon Explosions Spreads Through Facebook

Not long after two explosions reportedly killed two people and injured several others Monday at the Boston Marathon, people started using Facebook to not only share news, but to share well wishes for those involved and donate to the American Red Cross. Runners and spectators on the scene have also used Facebook to alert family that they're OK.

Runners and spectators on the scene have also used Facebook to alert family that they’re OK.

The Boston Marathon used its Facebook page to confirm that the explosions were set off by bombs:

Shortly after the explosions, Facebook users started sharing photos from the scene, as well as prayers and well wishes for those killed or injured in the blasts.
