Blip.tv Passes The 100 Million Monthly Views Mark

Blip.tv announced some exciting news on their blog today - the online video platform has surpassed 100 million video views per month. The site had a total of 113 million views in October and is on pace to reach 137 million in November. This is big news for Blip.tv. While the number of monthly views pales in comparison to YouTube, who announced over the summer that their mobile site along sustained over 100 million video plays per day, Blip.tv is much more of a niche site than YouTube, focusing on creating and distributing web shows rather than random home videos and viral videos. The fact that the site's monthly views are growing at such a rapid pace just goes to show that web series are becoming more and more popular on the web, and the site should continue to see massive growth in the months to come. Blip.tv had some other big news to announce, along with the fact that they've broken the 100 million monthly views barrier. They write, "Today we're also announcing that Blip.tv advertising revenue is on a pace to grow more than 5x from 2009 to 2010. That's a lot more revenue for producers, and we're going to keep growing in 2011. We've also doubled our team this year: from 20 to 40 people, including the folks working in our new L.A. office in Santa Monica." Lots of big advertisers are running campaigns on the site, including ABC, AMEX, Bravo, Chase, Columbia, EA Games, General Mills, Reebok, Samsung and more. Watch out Hulu - looks like there's a new online video advertising competitor in town! The top producers at Blip.tv will earn over $500,000 this year, and 2011 should blow 2010 out of the water.
