Chris Mohney has landed at digital network Blip after Tumblr sent him packing in April along with the rest of the editorial team.
As Blip’s vice president of programming, he will lead the editorial and programming efforts for Blip.com across the web and all other digital platforms.
Previously, Mohney oversaw the creation of Tumblr’s Storyboard, which highlighted members of the blogging community.
My personal Summer of Indolence will finally come to a bittersweet end as of Monday, when I join Blip as VP of Programming. Expect a lot more video posts from me. In fact all Tumblr text posts will be replaced by video posts of me reciting text posts; for link posts like this one I will audibly spell out all URLs and related punctuation with RELIGIOUS INTENSITY. Lots to do in this newly created position but I expect I’ll be hunting for talent in various capacities, so keep your ears on if that’s you.
Blip announced that Mohney will work out of its New York headquarters starting July 15 and will also work with Blip’s staff in Los Angeles and London.
“Chris has the editorial talent and the industry understanding to take Blip’s programming to never before seen heights, for consumers and advertisers,” said Jason Krebs, Blip’s president of sales and marketing in a statement. “His talent will create a noticeable impact throughout the video content ecosystem.”
